Maryland Governor Wes Moore joined University of Maryland President Darryll J. Pines and IonQ Executive Chair Peter Chapman in the Discovery District last month to announce this landmark strategic public-private partnership that will propel the state into becoming a global leader in quantum information science and technology. The “Capital of Quantum” initiative could catalyze over $1 billion in investments over the next five years, which would bolster the collective efforts of the greater D.C. region, the state, and the university, to be recognized as one of the world’s premiere epicenters for quantum.
